Newly Renovated Queens Museum

Take a step back in time as you tour Louis Armstrong’s former house in Queens, where the furnishings remain the same as during the famous musician's lifetime. Next we will have lunch together at Uno Pizzeria & Grill before touring the newly renovated Queens Museum of Art, where you will be fascinated with its nostalgic World’s Fair Collection and Architectural 3D Model of NYC.

Town of Smithtown - 350th Anniversary

   In celebration of the Town of Smithtown's 350th Anniversary, The Smithtown Library is offering a series of programs that will explore the history of the town and its people.  In addition, a Long Island Room exhibit will be on view throughout 2015.

Summer Reading Programs

Get ready for Summer Reading at The Smithtown Library! Summer Reading Programs for all ages will begin on Monday, June 22 and continue through Saturday, August 15. We've got something for everyone:

First Step To Reading - Birth - 2 years
Every Hero Has A Story- Children's Summer Reading Program - 3 years-5th grade
Unmask!- Young Adult Summer Reading Program - Grades 6-12
Escape the Ordinary - Adult Summer Reading Program - 18 years and older

Staff Pick

The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann interweaves the story of British explorer Percy Fawcett, who vanished during a 1925 expedition into the Amazon to find an ancient civilization, with the author's own adventure-filled quest into the uncharted wilderness to uncover the mysteries surrounding Fawcett's final journey and the secrets of what really lies deep in the Amazon jungle.

Recycle Station

The Smithtown Library collects the following items for recycling cell phones & eyeglasses.
The Library no longer accepts batteries for recycling. The Town of Smithtown now allows residents to dispose of many household batteries in their garbage. For more information click here.
