3D Printers at The Smithtown Library


Thank you to the Friends of The Smithtown Library for donating 3D Printers to each of our Library buildings.  Patrons can submit requests to have a designed printed.  These requests are reviewed to ensure they comply with the Library's policy, then sent to the requested pick-up location for printing.

Battle of the Books

The Battle of the Books is a county-wide competition for young adults who wish to represent their public library. The competition will take place on Saturday, August 13th at Stony Brook University. Teams will answer trivia questions based on eight different books and score points for their team with each correct answer.  To be eligible to participate, you must be entering grade 6-9, you must be able to attend meetings and must be ready for a summer of reading fun.

Summer Reading Programs

Get ready for Summer Reading at The Smithtown Library! Summer Reading Programs for all ages will begin on Monday, June 20 and continue through Friday, August 12. Visit your local Library branch to sign up. On Your Mark, Get Set... Read! is the theme for children from birth - 5th grade. The theme for young adults entering grades 6-12 is Get in the Game: Read. Adults 18 and older should join Exercise Your Mind. Read!

We are kicking off our reading programs with a Family Movie Night on the Lawn on Wednesday, June 29 at 8:00pm. Enjoy The Peanuts Movie on a giant inflatable screen presented by the Long Island Motion Picture Arts Center and Museum. Bring your own chairs or blankets and we will supply the popcorn! There will also be opportunities win raffle prizes starting at 8:00pm and registration for all Summer Reading Programs will be available. (Rain date - Thursday, June 30)

Recycle Station

The Smithtown Library collects the following items for recycling cell phones & eyeglasses.
The Library no longer accepts batteries for recycling. The Town of Smithtown now allows residents to dispose of many household batteries in their garbage. For more information click here.
