Radio City Christmas Spectacular

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is an annual musical holiday show that features over 140 performers, lavish sets and costumes as well as an original musical score. The 90-minute show stars the Rockettes® and combines singing, dancing and humor along with spectacular stage settings. We will meet at the Smithtown train station at 8:45am to board the 8:57am train. We must all be on the first train car and will transfer at Hicksville together before arriving at Penn Station at 10:33am. You then have time on your own for lunch and sightseeing before meeting at the theater at 1:30pm for the 2:00pm show. Show tickets and return train tickets will be distributed when checking in at 1:30pm. You are on your own after the show and must be on a return train no later than midnight.

Fee: $65.00 per person.

World War I and America & Long Island at War Program Series

2017 marks the 100th anniversary of the United States’ entry into World War I.  The Smithtown Library will host various programs and events in remembrance of this historic date with a program series titled World War I and America. In addition, The Smithtown Library’s Long Island Room will present a corresponding program series titled Long Island at War.  A complementary Long Island Room exhibit will be on view throughout the year.  The Smithtown Library invites you to partake in these programs and events to commemorate the importance of America’s involvement in World War I and gain a deeper understanding of our veterans’ experiences over time.

Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond
In his Pulitzer Prize winning book, Jared Diamond convincingly argues that geographical and environmental factors shaped the modern world. Marking the 20th anniversary of its publication this year, Guns, Germs, and Steel greatly advanced our understanding of human societies and stunningly dismantled racially based theories of human history.
