National Library Card Sign-up Month has been observed since 1987. It is the time when the American Library Association and Libraries around the country remind everyone that a library card is the most important card of all. From young to old, everyone can enjoy the resources of the public library. A library card provides access to not only books but movies, music, computers and a variety of electronic databases. You can also access several Library services from home using the Library’s website.
The Smithtown Library is celebrating with a new cardholders' raffle. All residents who do not have a card are encouraged to sign up for a library card at any branch of the Library. Getting a library card is fast, easy and free. Adults must bring one item with their name and proof of their current address, such as a driver's license or utility bill. Parents will need to sign the registration form on behalf of children 6th grade and younger. All new cardholders in September will be automatically entered into a raffle to win a $25 credit to use towards printing from our 3D printers.
There will be one winner per Library branch. Winners will be drawn from raffle entries on October 1, 2016.
For more information, see the Circulation Desk at any of our branches.
