The Friends of the Smithtown Library is a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the
resources of the library. The funds from sales, raffles, and membership dues are used to
purchase specialty items for the library and to sponsor educational and cultural programs
for adults, children and teens.

| 2010 Scholarship | |
| The Friends of the Smithtown Library is pleased to offer scholarships to graduating high school students from the Smithtown area so that they may continue to access books and materials as they pursue a degree from an institute of higher learning. | |
| Listserv | |
|
The Suffolk Cooperative Library System recently set up a listserv for Friends of the Library
groups in Suffolk County. This list is intended to serve as a communication tool for Library Friends to network with each
other, ask questions, and also find solutions to common problems that they may encounter. SCLS is hopeful that members will
find the listserv useful and enjoyable to communicate with Library Friends throughout the county. Members who would like to
post to the list, may subscribe at the following address:

| Book Sales | |
| Throughout the year, the Friends have special giant book sale events; however, there is always an ongoing book sale in the Peter McMann Gillard Meeting Room (Old Meeting Room) at the Main Branch. You may come to browse whenever a program is not in session. Donations of gently used books are welcome for these sales, but please follow this guideline : | |
