Featured Children's Book

badbyeMoving to a new home can be an emotional journey for a child.  Deborah Underwood's Bad Bye, Good Bye captures just that.  In fact, Kirkus review says this book's strength "is in the emotional journey that's expressed with raw honesty."  Each illustration is composed of four different layers, all of which are visible.  This helps create movement and evokes the layers of emotions felt in a move - both the bad byes and the good byes.  Underwood's spare rhyming text only enhance Bean's beautiful illustrations.  A great book to enjoy and open a discussion about emotions with young children.

Logo - 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

All families and caregivers are encouraged to read at least 1000 books with their young children before they enter Kindergarten. Reading to preschool-age children builds vocabulary, language skills, and helps prepare them for Kindergarten. Families can build the skills needed for future success. Ask your children's librarian for more information.
