Statement:

Since my retirement two years ago I have become a “library guy” which means that I very much enjoy libraries including Smithtown and its branches, Sachem, East Islip and Rogers in Southampton.  I have gotten to see the different programs that are offered: lectures, book discussion clubs, museum passes, movies, computers and print stations.  In comparing different libraries I think that Smithtown holds its own very nicely but I would like to expand the museum pass to include more places, particularly in NYC – the Met, MOMA, MCNY and the New York Historical Society.  I went on library sponsored bus trips and would like to see more of these to L.I. museums, sporting events.  Also if a movie is offered in any branch, could there be a question sheet or a discussion particularly if based on a true story.  I have experience in doing the latter.  There should be consideration given to any budget increase and cost cutting when necessary.
