Battle of the Books

This County-wide competition is intended for young adults who will be entering grades 6-9 in September of 2014. Teens must read 8 books and answer trivia questions about the books. Tryouts will determine who will make the final team of 6. The titles will be released on June 2 at our informational meeting. Register

 
Teen Gardening Club

During this 15 week club, teens will get their hands dirty as they install and tend a new vegetable garden at the Kings Park Library. We will also learn many aspects of gardening while tending to the beautiful butterfly garden out front. Community service hours will be awarded for hours worked in the gardens.  Please dress appropriately for working outside.  Thank you to the Kings Park Hardware store for supporting our Teen Gardening Club. Teen Art Studio

This month we will be using glue, salt and water colors to make distressed canvas art.  This project could be messy, so dress appropriately. Register
 
Video Game Design
Tuesdays, August 5, 12 • 6:00-8:00pm

In this hands-on class, teens will get an introduction to the basics of video game creation. Learn how to design a video game and write a program. Teens will construct rooms and doorways, add a player, objects, textures, colors, lighting and more. We will compile the finished program and learn how to make changes and correct errors. Teens will use a free program that can be accessed after the second session of the program has been completed. A free tutorial will also be available to continue working after the class. Register

 
Geeks and Nerds Everywhere

Calling all geeks and nerds! Join us at our twice monthly meetings. All fandoms are welcome at G.A.N.E. where we discuss graphic novels, movies, books and television shows. No registration required.
