Although all our meetings are open to the public, the Executive Board Meetings are for the purpose of conducting the business of the governing board and for preparing for the upcoming General Membership Meetings. Our General Membership Meetings are held to conduct business that relates to the membership-at-large and to provide an opportunity for people who are interested in the library to establish a closer relationship. Come and visit with us, or join us and become a member.

The Friends of The Smithtown Library is an independent, non-profit organization of concerned people who support our Library through fundraising activities and volunteer services. As Friends, we act as liaisons between the Library and the community to help increase public awareness of the services and materials the Library has to offer.
Join the Friends and help make a difference! Membership forms may be printed from this website and are also available at all the buildings of the Library.
The Friends of The Smithtown Library recognizes the role and contribution of libraries in the lives of young people. For this reason, the Friends wish to offer scholarships to graduating high school students from the Smithtown area so that they may continue to access informational material as they pursue a degree from an institution of higher learning. Winners will be selected by the Friends of The Smithtown Library and all decisions will be final. A $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to the candidate whose application and essay best exemplify a desire to maintain a lifetime relationship with libraries. A $750 scholarship will be awarded to the first runner-up.
The first place scholarship was presented to Smithtown High School East graduate Taylor Saar; second place was presented to Smithtown High School East graduate Emerson Cozine. Taylor Saar was accepted to Penn State College and the University of Delaware for the fall. She is no stranger to The Smithtown Library, participating in over 400 hours of volunteer work at the Nesconset Building including Kindness Cards, Bookmark Volunteers, Washkits, Paracord Bracelets and more. She also volunteered her time for the Red Cross and Long Island Cares.
Emerson Cozine will be attending Loyola University Maryland in the fall. She was awarded the Girl Scout Silver Award, has years of experience volunteering at summer camps and is involved in leadership activities in her school.
The Friends, along with The Smithtown Library congratulate these two young women on this award and wish them much success in their future endeavors.
