The Battle of the Books is a county-wide competition for young adults who wish to represent their public library. The competition will take place on Friday, August 9 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Hauppauge.

Join us as we spotlight a favorite children’s author. We will read their stories and create a special project based on one of their books. Dress to make a mess.

Imagine, draw, and create. Decorate a special journal to write down all of your ideas and summer adventures.

Join in the fun as we compete in a video game tournament, enjoy some snacks, and battle it out in our after-hours Laser Tag competition throughout the Library. All participants will be emailed a permission slip to return to the library before

 Enjoy musical warm-ups, obstacle courses, fun inflatables and other fine and gross motor skill activities.

Teach younger children how to play chess and checkers. You do not have to be an expert to volunteer but knowledge of the rules is required. Each teen will receive one hour of community service for participating.
