Program Description

Event Details

Take a plunge into the history of the area’s sub-marine depths by learning about famous explorer William Beebe’s test dives in the Long Island Sound, Amelia Earhart’s temporary “disappearance” under the waves, the loss of John Holland’s prototype submarine, Simon Lake’s sub-sea explorer, Chief Gunner’s Mate Frank Crilley’s testing of U.S. Navy diving gear, and President Theodore Roosevelt’s historic plunge into murky waters aboard a submarine.  These and more tales from the deep will be brought to the surface by maritime historian and author Adam Grohman.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.
