Glowforge Project Request

The Library is happy to offer patrons the ability to submit projects to be created with the Library’s Glowforge laser printer. The Glowforge can create physical objects based on designs supplied as digital files. These can be designs you’ve created yourself, or designs you’ve obtained from another source and have permission to use.

Patrons can use the form below to submit a request to have a project printed on the Glowforge. Staff will review the submission and, if accepted, add the project to the queue. Once it is completed, a staff member will let you know it is available to be picked up. Projects can only be picked up at the Smithtown Building's Media Desk.

Glowforge FAQ

The Glowforge can use .svg, .jpg, and .png files. SVG files are the prefered format. If you plan to submit a JPG or PNG file, make sure it is in black & white or has high contrast for best results.

The work area is approximately 18 x 10 inches. If your project is larger than that, we suggest breaking it down into smaller pieces if possible and submitting those as separate files. At this time, we do not allow material to pass through the machine.

The Library has a premium subscription with Glowforge. You can pick a project from the Free with Premium list on the Glowforge website. Designs can also be found/purchased online on Glowforge's Community Forum and Thingiverse.

Cost: $0.10 per minute + $0.15 per square inch of Library-provided material

Projects submitted online can only be made with Library provided Proofgrade material. If you wish to use your own Proofgrade material, please schedule an appointment to create your project in the LearnLab.
