Brighten a child's day by decorating cards with kind messages and pictures. These card will go to children in hospitals nationwide. 

Teen volunteers are needed to support the Friends of The Smithtown Library Book Sale. Tasks may include setting up book displays, creating signage, posting signs, maintaining the sale tables, collecting money and light cleaning.

The Friends of The Smithtown Library sale offers hardcover and paperback books, DVDs, CD Music, children’s books and more. Members of the Friends of The Smithtown Library get “first dibs” on book sale items from 10:00-11:00am. Not a member?

Spend an afternoon paired with a younger child for some craft projects. We will be using art materials. Dress to make a mess. Each teen will receive one hour community service credit for participating.

Join us for a round of this classic role-playing game! Perfect for players of all skill levels, this campaign will introduce you to the game and its rules while you play. Dice and snacks will be provided.

Use Cricut Design Space to create an original masterpiece.  We’ll then learn about the Cricut machine and use iron-on vinyl to transfer your design to a pillow.

Be paired with a younger child and help them with a LEGO® creation.

Join us in the LearnLab to celebrate National Pet Month! We will be creating personalized keychains of your furry friend.

Channel your inner Vincent Van Gogh with Art Teacher Amy and recreate his iconic Starry Night painting, adding in your own feline touch. 

Join us to make seasonal decorations that will be donated to local nursing homes.

Help aid local food pantries by planting, tending and harvesting vegetables in the Library’s garden bed. Meet us in the lobby to head out to the garden together. In the event of rain, this program will be held in the Community Room.

Help young children score a strike in our home-made indoor bowling alley.

Learn the basics of sewing as you create a small plush animal to take home.

Join us to discuss manga, watch anime and enjoy Japanese snacks.

Create origami monster bookmarks to be handed out to children in our library. Each teen will earn one hour of community service.

Join the fun as we play the Nintendo Switch, retro video games, computer games and go head to head in VR with the MetaQuest. 3D Printing demos and pizza will complete the night.

Make bags full of birthday goodies for patrons of our Children's Department to enjoy.
